On dry pavement, with temperatures just below freezing, the stopping distance for vehicles equipped with all-season tires is 30% longer than for vehicles equipped with winter tires. As of October 1, winter tires are required on most routes in British Columbia until April 30 for maximum safety. So, if you are planning to hit the slopes in Whistler or drive up to the Okanagan, then winter tires are a must.
